Our Story
Early Beginnings
Upper Valley Contracting is a family-owned and run business that was officially established in 2000. Composed of a father (Jim) and son (James) duo, they have grown and expanded their skills, specialties, and projects over the course of decades.
Jim started ranching in Lemhi Valley in the early 1980s and then moved to Idaho Falls in 2000. From there, he began working on mostly residential projects that focused on electrical apprenticeship and general construction. James started his electrical apprenticeship after he graduated high school in 2004, although he expanded into more commercial and industrial projects. Though both worked together on projects during summers, they ended up joining forces and partnering up in 2018.
Company Growth
Their early days focused on residential excavation, fishery projects, agricultural pipelines, and some electrical work. Since then, their company has expanded to include substantially more specialties. Their excavation repertoire has expanded to include many projects, like:

Most of our work is all done in-house, meaning that we have enough equipment and trucks that other subcontractors are rarely brought on.
